![]() I use a rs232 to ethernet (nport 5110a) by a company named moxa for a fanuc 10t lathe and a heidenhain tnc-310 control, and it seems that the limitation for them is how fast the control can process the data sent, not how fast the actual device can grab them(119200 baud) for the heidenhain of mine, also hardware handshaking works if your cable is set up for that, they are relatively cheap about 120$ and they are solid and support whatever signal lines your cnc needs. You are back at the comm software changing the program, dumping the old one out of the machine, sending the new one for another 45 minutes. ability to produce in one set-up compo- nents which previously needed 3 or. Then you find one mistake, or a left out tool number, and the control can't open the program to edit it as the program is too large, sooooo. For example a 3D program of say 1.5mb (roughly 80,000 lines of code I think it was) takes something like 35-40 minutes to transfer. My old mill is slow in that respect, so it really doesn't matter what sort of process I use to get the program into the machine, if it's going thru the RS232 port, it's transferring very slowly.
